BOARD OF DIRECTORS / MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES

GRAND BLANC HUNTSMAN’S CLUB

March 11,  2007

Meeting called to order at 5:28 pm by Dale Statson.  Motion to combine meeting by W. Esser, 2nd C. Henke, carried.

 

President: Dale Statson reported that the next meeting will be postponed to April 15, due to conflict with Easter.

Appointment of vice-president: C. Henke moved to appoint Alan Sikes, 2nd D. Fortier, carried unanimously.

The poster with board member pictures is being updated.      Work day on Irish Road in April.

2007 Goal possibilities: replace Gator; build a pavilion; do lead recovery; 5th skeet field; transport trailer for shooter; paint skeet houses and fences; rewire skeet fields; reshingle barn; crushed concrete on paths; increase membership. To prioritize at next meeting.    RSO class committee to meet in March 29th.   Member of the Year: to get nominations from membership.  Lisa Snelling to help organize a Ladies Shoot on Sunday June 24th.  2007 Sponsor signs have made $2925 profit.   Senator Cherry is paying for Hunter's Safety class on May 5.   Larry Stolle made some suggestions, including speakers and drawings at meetings, and standing committees.  Each board member will invite a member to our next meeting.

 

Minutes of  previous meetings; February 2007  meeting  minutes were approved. 

 

Treasurer:  D. Statson, for K. Todd reported that we are running negative thus far in 2007. Need to control costs.

 

Membership: T. Santoro reported 3 new applicants: Joel Moorhouse (D. Statson); Phillip Giacolone (D. Fortier); and Donald Walker (D. Fortier).   Motion to accept new members by L. Curtis, 2nd W. Esser, carried. Our total membership is 396.

H. Woody reported that there was some interest in 6 month memberships.  Board rejected the concept.

 

Sporting Clays: Next shoot is April 7.  That will allow changes to current course..

 

Skeet:  Today's Lucky Irish shoot netted $766.

 

Manager: Hugh Woody reported that he and Chris Roelandt will attend the trap/target setting class at DGC.  Getting price on  replacing doors for skeet houses from volunteer member.  The SCTP shoot on March 17 will have about 100 youth shooters.   Leagues are going well. Thanks to Dave Fortier and Bob Flauding for volunteering to pull for Chevy league.   The board decided that there will be show-me birds on all rounds, including single 50 target rounds.  Need to control trapper hours, and watch that non-members don't pay member prices. 

 

Old Business:

 CONSTITUTION: to have special meeting to review on April 16.  Price for shells for Cherry shoot will be $5/box + tax.

Lead Recovery: C. Henke met with Pat Wusthoff of Restoration and Reclaiming Services. They do many local clubs.  Probable timing is 2009, with significant profit expected. Delay necessary since they are booked this year and we have State Shoot in '08. Need to remove thorn apple trees before they can bring in equipment. Claim grounds will look good afterwards.

Gator: Deere is $8200, Kubota is $10,500 with 2 year 0% interest. D. Fortier had Kubota at club for inspection.

Wobble trap to be installed upon better weather.  Wood cutters have one more trip until finished.

Need to order shells by end of March to avoid future price increase.

 

New Business: 

D. Statson suggested a money shoot, to include skeet and sporting clays.

Private Ann Arbor company to rent rifle range as before for $250.

Davison High School now has 7 or 8 youths interested in shotgun training. Connie Trombley is trying to get a class started.

L. Curtis moved to close the club on Easter Sunday , 2nd J. Webster, carried.
