  • A unique pre-production Winchester Model 1866 “Yellow Boy” rifle is listed on GunBroker.com to benefit the NSSF’s Project ChildSafe firearm safety program. The auction will conclude on January 30.
  • The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and NSSF announced at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas a partnership to launch a new firearms and suicide prevention education program nationwide in 2017.
  • At the State of the Industry Dinner, the NSSF Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Alan Mossberg and the Grits Gresham Shooting Sports Communicator Award to Ashley Hlebinsky.
  • The 2017 SHOT Show Supplier Showcase enjoyed astounding success in its debut with a crowd of nearly 3,000 CEOs, procurement specialists, engineers and others in the firearms manufacturing world meeting with more than 260 OEM suppliers to network and explore opportunities for advancement.

  • The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has struck down Chicago’s ban on gun ranges on constitutional grounds. It also threw out age restrictions for ranges. Both measures were contained in city ordinances. The same court struck down Chicago’s concealed carry ban in late 2012.
  • President Donald Trump could, as soon as this week, announce his selection to fill the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy caused by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. The President has pledged to appoint a conservative, pro-Second Amendmentjustice. NSSF will keep you informed.

  • Customer relations expert Hank Yacek has joined NSSF’s Retail Advisory Council. Yacek has nearly a quarter-century of industry expertise and his career has included a number of roles.

  • NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti attended the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Chapter Leadership Conference in Irvine, California, last Saturday, where he and AFSP CEO Bob Gebbia introduced the new AFSP-NSSF suicide prevention education national program to 350 chapter members. The program was enthusiastically received.
