April 2024 Board Meeting Minutes
DIRECTORS/MEMBERSHIP BOARD OF MEETING
GRAND BLANC HUNTSMAN’S CLUB
April 14, 2024
Present: Ian Doran, Len Smith, Cory Bredow, Bob Flauding, Ken Travis, John Demers, Bob Yochim, Dave Paluch, Paul Rosemeck, Phil Haycock, Judy Jones, John DiGiannantonio, Glenn Williams, Mark Robinson, Jim Berg, Andrew Hartman, Chrissy Baning
The meeting is called to order by President Ken Travis at 5:30 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance
President: Ken Travis
- Ken opened the meeting by welcoming all in attendance. He noted that Becka has started as cashier. John Demers wife is also learning the system. We still need additional help.
- Ken then introduced Andrew Hartman. Andrews father Dwayne Hartman a club member passed away last summer. Andrew said that his fathers will had been finalized and he was here to present a generous donation to the club. Ken accepted the check. All in attendance applauded and shook Andrews hand.
- Recording Secretary: Ian Doran
- March minutes have been posted to the web site.
Vice President: John Demers
- John followed up on the status of committees. The internet committee has been dissolved. The restroom update committee has also been dissolved. Score Chaser had a great launch with the first registered shoot of the season. Committee dissolved.
Treasurer: Len Smith- All financial reports are available for review for GBHC members upon request. The fixed and variable costs associated with operating GBHC were discussed. The distribution of the costs against the revenue, generating venues and events for the month were also discussed to show where gains or losses had occurred.
- Highlighted expenses for the month were shotgun shell flats, insurance payment and a new laptop for the office.
- Len reported that the first registered shoot of the year (Bunny shoot) had 120 shooters. The club was able to make a reasonable profit.
- The next registered shoot will be May 4th. SCTP will hold a fun shoot on May 9th.
Membership Secretary: Judy Jones
- 7 Applicants this month
- Membership 329 annual, 100 life, 88 retired life,
Motion to accept the new members from Ian Doran. 2nd by Len Smith
Motion carries with all Ayes from the board and members in attendance
Skeet Report: Chris Baning
- Chrissy noted that there 143 shooters in the Mid State Bolt league this past winter. That is the largest group in some time. 11k targets were thrown over the course of 3 months.
Sporting Clays: Cory Bredow
- Cory thanked everyone who chipped in and helped with the open cashier position and with help in the field. He continues to need additional cashier help and field help.
Rifle /Pistol Range: Glenn Williams
- Glenn reported that the frames and curtains are finished at the rifle range. There is yet some staining to be done and the fence on skeet field #4 will be painted white.
Manager Report: Cory Bredow
- None
Marketing: Paul Rosemeck
- Paul has been in touch with Dale Statson and has gotten the sponsor files from him. He is working through the files and will have sponsor notices out soon.
Old Business:
- Cash Register- Ken Travis reported that the cash register launch has been good. Cashiers have little trouble learning the system. The monthly service charge is under $60. The credit card fee and reports need to be finalized.
New Business:
- Cell tower buyout- Monday April 15th a committee will meet and discuss what has been learned.
- Pre-paid shoot cards- John Demers has requested that a committee be formed to look at all aspects of this proposal.
- Skeet field #2 concrete- We need new quotes that may not require that all of the concrete be replaced.
- SxS shoot- Phil Haycock noted that the event will be on 6/8/24. It will consist of 25 5 stand targets and 50 sporting clay targets. The entrance price is $60.
- Motion to adjourn was made by Bob Yochim. 2nd by Phil Haycock.
- Motion passed with all Ayes by the board and members in attendance at 6:27 pm.
